Barry Metcalf, the founding Chairman of the South Downs Light Railway Society, recently expressed an interest
in building a version of 'The Priest' - however, he wanted a 2-4-2 tank version! Playing around on the computer
produced the above drawing - a rather pleasing variant.
As all this will be laser cut, I've taken the opportunity to put 'locating tabs' on the profiles, so the bits slot together, to help ensure squarness.
This assembly can then be bolted together, or partially welded.
I've ordered two sets of frames, one for Barry and one for another friend and collegue......
Barry has made a good start as these photos show, but actually, he has progressed much forther, to a set of fully welded and primed frames.
He brought them to a meeting recently on a trailer, just to show me,
and very impressive they were....!
Ironically, I suspect that his 2-4-2 may turn out to be a better loco than mine... Good luck to him!
Cliff has been making good progress on his loco, as can be seen ......

This loco is 9 foot 10 inches long, and has the same vital statistics as my 2-6-0 tender version.
